Great meeting place in Port Aransas. Service and prices are great. Had a group meeting there in Oct 2017. Management and the staff did a fantastic job getting the place ready for us and then taking care of 30+ people throughout the meeting. Nice Job Stingrays!
I would like to say that the food and service was great, UNFORTUNATELY, I CANNOT. I was promptly greeted at the door, but when I told the hostess I had 11 in my party she took the menu from me and told me that we could not be accommodated at the restaurant. I offered to split the group up and was told once again that we could not be served. I was told by management that it was the owner's policy not to serve groups larger than 10. The manager was helpful in recommending other locations that were open past 9 P.M. Three people from our group still wanted to stay and eat there and were told by the hostess that they could not be served because they were part of my group. I was told by the manager that food orders per table would be at least 45 minutes apart as to why we could not split up our group. We visited several other establishments that were very accommodating. Fins, Kody's and Jays were GREAT!
We sat outside on the patio because we had our dog with us. We only came because we found out they were listed as dog friendly. We were greeted by a nice young lady and gentleman. She was new to the area from Arizona and doing a great job taking our order. My son and I were excited that we could play ping pong while we waited for the food to arrive. After playing a short time another waitress from inside told me that I would need to provide an ID for using the old used paddles and balls. I told her no that's okay and she quickly gathered the equipment up and we went back and sat down.
The truth is that it went from a fun environment to just a place to get some food. Very little social skills here as that seems like the norm in most food establishments these days. I would have gathered the family up and went elsewhere, but didn't want to inconvenience my family and the nice waitress. We ate and it was okay and overpriced. We tipped the waitress good and went on our way deciding that we could check Stingray's off our list as a good place to bring out of town guests.
Despite the over an hour wait, I am going to give a 5 star review. We decided to come here on a busy Saturday night with our dog. There were no free tables outside so we had to wait. The staff was very attentive and gave our dog water. When the wait was getting past an hour, they even offered to set up a folding table for us. When we got our food it was wonderful! I recommend the Ahí tuna sliders and the Rum Bucket.
This place is great. It is so hard to find a restaurant that makes sweet tea that tastes great. The food was great and the atmosphere is comfortable. I would definitely return here and recommend this restaurant to all looking for a wonderful experience.
