Went to port A to reconnect after the loss of my grandma. My mother and I went together to be each others support system. She does not have a gmail account so the following are her words.
When we checked out owner was screaming how she was the "bad-guy". The customers behind us mentioned how "great the customer service is". It was the worst display by any owner or manager I, personally have ever witnessed. DRAMA.
At first I was skeptical given the low pricing (lowest price = lowest amenities/customer care) but my husband and I were delightfully surprised to find this place was pretty awesome. Great location everything within minutes, the renovated pool was awesome, staff friendly, and overall we had a very nice time. We will for sure stay here again.
Button to push for shower was missing and hard to push
Tubs have been painted over and paint is peeling
Great hot tub, outdoor picnic area and pool! Rooms have a mini fridge/microwave/couch & TV. The bed was super comfy and If the room had better lighting like a lamp and side table by the couch, i would go 5 stars. The room was super dim in the evening making it hard to see...all in all we had a good stay!
Customer at checkout demanded a worker check over his room before he checked out because he feared the owner would add on charges.
Ac unit is outdated and very dusty. People with allergies wonder if the filter has ever been cleaned/changed. Did not keep the room cool at 72*, had to have it down to 66 plus use a fan to keep cool
The boat parking area is a great idea.
Two dimly lit lamps are only sources of light
Cobwebs above the painted Pelicans.
One lamp sat on top of a small outdated microwave that sat on top of a mini fridge that sat on the end table rendering the end table useless
First, I must say that, breakfast offered is amazing in variety, the pool and play yard area are wonderful delights to look at and are nicely thought out for guests (personally didn't use any but the breakfast and coffee in the Lanai area).
Lights flickered like poltergeist every single day
Half outlets didn't work
Single ply toilet paper which the holder was stuck to the back of he bathroom door (awkward)
No housekeeping during stay. Only clean towels daily. Anything else was quite readily provided if you asked.
Key didn't work in deadbolt
Will return to Port A next year. Our annual visit at The Shark Reef Resort will not be included.
Door frames filthy
My family and I have come to the reef every year for the past 8 years, we have never had a bad experience! The staff are kind, considerate, and very accommodating. I love the upgrades, the play area is perfect for small and older children. The rooms are clean, cute, and quiet all wrapped up in a great price! They serve a great breakfast & have late checkout so you don't have to fight the ferry traffic. Perfect place to just relax..
The parking is extremely limited and crowded
Shower went from hot to freeze you out multiple times
Faucet didn't sit flush to the wall allowing bugs to hide in the walls
A basic tension rod holds up the material shower curtain
Extension cords by the mini fridge for fridge, lamp, microwave and if you need to plug in any devices
Squashed bug remnants on ceiling above the green pull out love seat
That is the end of the good parts of the review.
Doors shut hard and didn't set well
Shower made squealing noises like an air horn that was dying
No coffee pot in rooms
Decent hotel with a decent room experience with it's major issue being a below average insulation that lead to most of the cool temperature from the air conditioning escaping quicker than it built up. Service was also good. The continental breakfast was okay, but mostly consisted of wheat/grains, fruit, and dairy; with protein seeming to be lacking. The option to include content such as eggs or sausage. The pool was very nicely designed, but doesn't include an outdoor shower for rinsing off before and after entering it. Overall it was a decent hotel, but not anything spectacular about it.
Floors left feet black and were gritty from the first day (NASTY). We had to line the floors with the towels to keep our feet clean after showers and before bed.
No outlets in the bathroom. Had to use the outlets between the beds for hairdryer and straighteners or curling irons and run back and forth to the mirror to see how the device was doing
The owner, that checked us in, seemed cool, aloof and reserved.
Friday night it was water roaches, Saturday it was silverfish, Sunday it was a beetle (all in the bathroom)
Not beach themed at all besides painted palm trees and painted Pelicans
Gob of yellow goop on the wall by the bed nearest the door
Our double queen room looked nothing like online pictures
Dirt splattered up onto walls, baseboards dirty, light fixtures haphazardly put up.
Mirror hung in bathroom for short people
